Here is an impressive story of Asmaa !!!

Dr. Asmaa proved this with her great success in both modules of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.

First, she completed the Basic part of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, where she learned about the basics of stewardship, how to apply antimicrobial stewardship in the patient care level.

In Candidate Success Story, her study includes Module 1 of pharmacology, microbiology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics.

Then, achieve Module 2 of Antimicrobial Stewardship guidelines for managing several infectious disease conditions.

She then pursued her ASP journey by successfully completing the Advanced organizational ASP.

As, she learned how to deal with infection control, how to understand the antibiogram, how to make antimicrobial guidelines, and implement it hospital-wide.

In addition, understand the role of the pharmacist in the antimicrobial stewardship committee, the intervention of stewardship, and how to measure the outcomes.

All these organizational topics studied in FADIC Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, Module 3 to 5 of stewardship school.

And finally, she DID IT 

Firstly, she applied for Antimicrobial Stewardship Program that she learned with FADIC School, and implemented the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at her hospital.

Important Tips to Decrease Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) 

• Dispense antibiotics only when it is indicated according to recent guidelines .
• When dispensing antibiotic to a patient, ensure that the patient is given the optimal antibiotic, with the optimal dose and the optimal duration (if you use antibiotic, use it enough.)
• No need for antibiotic use in viral infections such as common cold.
• Ensure that you made appropriate patient counseling about his dispensed antibiotic medication.
• Use appropriate method of administration, dose, duration of therapy, potential side effects, serious adverse events ( if found) and appropriate storage conditions.
• Advise the patient to continue his medication even if he feels better and the symptoms are resolved.
• Advise patient to contact the health care professionals if there is no improvement or if the symptoms are worsening.
• Educate the patients about methods of infection control (such as vaccination, good hygiene and covering nose and mouth while sneezing.
