Why Take this Workshop?
To learn the types and the pathophysiology of Acute Bacterial Skin and Soft Tissue Infections (ABSSSIs), and opportunities to apply antimicrobial stewardship program in ABSSSIs
Overview
Skin and soft tissue infections training course
Opportunities for Antimicrobial Stewardship
- Skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs), also referred to as skin and skin structure infections, represent a group of infections that are diverse in their clinical presentations and degrees of severity.
- Purulent Infections (e.g., furuncles, carbuncles, abscesses).
- Non-Purulent Infections (e.g., erysipelas, cellulitis, necrotizing fasciitis). They are generally classified into two categories:
- They are further classified into three sub-categories: mild, moderate, and severe.
Learning Objectives
- Describe pathophysiology / predisposing factors for tissue infections (SSTIs) .
- Recognize clinical presentation and monitoring consideration.
- List primary pathogens associated with skin and soft tissues infections .
- Discuss appropriate antimicrobial therapy for SSTIs.
