What is meant by the word “Vaccines”?
- Vaccine is a product that stimulates a body’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, to protect the person from that disease.
- Usually, Vaccines administered through injections, but it can also be administered by mouth or into the nose.
- The presence of antibodies to a disease is what makes a person immunised to that disease.

Influenza Vs COVID-19 Vaccines
Flu Vaccines
- New influenza season starts approximately in Nov every year & new vaccination must start in October. (Flu Jab)
- It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against influenza virus infection.
- A TRIVALENT vaccine that targets three strains of flu virus.
- A QUADRIVALENT vaccine that targets four strains.
- Both vaccines are available as an IM injection.
COVID-19 Virus
- Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
- The first case identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
- It has since spread worldwide, leading to an ongoing pandemic.
