What is meant by the word “Vaccines”?

• Vaccine is a product that stimulates a body’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, to protect the person from that disease.
• Usually, Vaccines administered through injections, but it can also be administered by mouth or into the nose.
• The presence of antibodies to a disease is what makes a person immunised to that disease.

Flu Vaccines

• New influenza season starts approximately in Nov every year & new vaccination must start in October. (Flu Jab)
• It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against influenza virus infection.
• A TRIVALENT vaccine that targets three strains of flu virus.
• A QUADRIVALENT vaccine that targets four strains.
• Both vaccines are available as an IM injection.

COVID-19 Virus

• Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
• The first case identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
• It has since spread worldwide, leading to an ongoing pandemic.
