What is meant by the word “Vaccines”?

  • Vaccine is a product that stimulates a body’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, to protect the person from that disease.
  • Usually, Vaccines administered through injections, but it can also be administered by mouth or into the nose.
  • The presence of antibodies to a disease is what makes a person immunised to that disease.

Influenza Vs COVID-19 Vaccines


Flu Vaccines

  • New influenza season starts approximately in Nov every year & new vaccination must start in October. (Flu Jab)
  • It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against influenza virus infection.
  • A TRIVALENT vaccine that targets three strains of flu virus.
  • A QUADRIVALENT vaccine that targets four strains.
  • Both vaccines are available as an IM injection.
