  • Team-based learning (TBL) is an active learning strategy that encourages students to think critically to solve problems.

  • Comparing ourselves to others allows them to drive our behavior.
  • This type of comparison is between you and someone else.
  • Sometimes it’s about something genetic, like wishing to be taller, but more often it’s about something the other person is capable of doing that we wish we could do as well.

Instagram as a tool to enhance pharmacy student learning of ambulatory care pharmacy

  • This project utilized the social media platform Instagram, which focuses upon posting images with accompanied captions, as a supplemental learning tool.
  • The objective was to assess the impact of using a clinical pharmacy-focused Instagram account on students’ knowledge of ambulatory care pharmacy.
  • Use of an educational Instagram account had a positive impact on students’ knowledge relating to ambulatory care pharmacy as demonstrated by this comparison study.

Meeting the challenge: Implementation of a collaborative quality improvement initiative for a multi-site pharmacy residency and fellowship program

  • The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accreditation standards for postgraduate training programs require a continuous improvement plan as a method of quality improvement (QI).
  • The University of Maryland (UM) Residency and Fellowship Program offers several residency and fellowship programs.
  • The primary objective of this QI project was to assess the perceived effectiveness of the UM’s training program in preparing trainees for their desired career goals.
  • A secondary objective was to acquire suggestions from graduates to assist in QI.

Pharmacy and medical students’ attitudes and perspectives on social media usage and e-professionalism in United Arab Emirates

  • It is imperative to establish how students view and present themselves on social media and to assess level of awareness regarding the implications of their social media presence, e-professionalism, and accountability.
  • The study objectives were to:
  • Determine the social media usage levels among medical and pharmacy students in the United Arab Emirates (UAE);
  • Characterize the students’ views and perceptions, including their awareness of e-professionalism; and
  • Compare the responses in behavior between the two groups.
