New Predictive Measurement and Gastrectomy
- A Prospective study aims to investigate whether measurement of muscle quantity/quality has additional predictive value for postoperative complications and long-term survival after gastrectomy for gastric cancer in patients with “probable Sarcopenia”.
- The results indicate that Measurement of muscle quantity/quality has additional predictive value for postoperative complications , overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) after gastrectomy in those patients.

Protein intake and Marathon Performance
- A study aim to investigate the relationships between protein intake and marathon performance, body composition, acute race induced changes and selected metabolic and muscle damage-related blood biomarkers in recreational master runners.
- The results conclude that Higher protein intake is related to better marathon performance.
- Also, Higher protein intake is related to a lower post-race reduction of Lean Body Mass.
- In addition, Higher protein intake is related to lower post-race changes of biochemical indices.

Vitamins A &D and drug induced liver injuries
- Vitamin A and D seems to have protective effect from xenobiotic-induced liver injury in previous animal studies.
- A new post-hoc analysis of some previous randomized controlled trial aim to investigate the effects of vitamin A and D supplementation on tuberculosis-drug-induced liver injury.
- The results estimate that Vitamin A and D supplementation did not protect against tuberculosis-drug-induced liver injury.
- Further Future work is highly recommended.

Selenium and Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Several studies showed that IBD patients have a lower selenium level compared to healthy subjects. Hence, experimental studies mimicking ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease investigated the effect of selenium supplementation on IBD.
- The results indicated that Selenoproteins can curb the inflammatory response and attenuate oxidative stress.
- Also, Selenium supports protective gut microbiota which indirectly improves management of IBD. In addition Selenium may block some of the predominant tumor genesis pathways proposed in colitis-associated colorectal cancer.

Depression and Coronary Artery Disease
- Depression and malnutrition are prevalent among coronary artery disease(CAD) patients.
- A prospective study aim to explore the relationship between nutritional and emotional statuses and the prognosis of CAD patients using Controlling Nutrition Status (CONUT) and Patient Health-9 (PHQ-9).
- The results indicate that A total of 20.6% of the patients were found to have comorbidities of depression and malnutrition.
- Also, Depression and malnutrition were found to be risk factors for adverse outcomes among CAD patients.

Adipose tissue and Multiple Myeloma
- Standard prognostic markers based on individual characteristics of patients with multiple myeloma (MM) remain scarce.
- Body composition features have often been associated with survival outcomes in different cancers.
- However, A study aim to explore the association of adipose tissue radiodensity with MM prognosis.
- The results indicate that subcutaneous adipose tissue( SAT) radiodensity may serve as a biomarker to predict host-related metabolic and pro-inflammatory milieu, which ultimately correlates with MM prognosis.
