HGS and nutritional status
- Hand grip strength (HGS) is frequently used in clinical practice, resulting in a potential marker of nutritional status.
- A cross sectional study aimed to develop reference values of HGS in Italian women with different categories of body mass index (BMI).
- The results conclude that Reference values for HGS in women according to BMI are potentially useful in both clinical and research fields.
- Also, The main predictors of HGS were weight and Phase angle (PhA).

Creatine malnutrition
- A study aimed to explore the dietary intake of creatine in U.S. children and adults using NHANES 2017-2018 data.
- The results estimated that the Average intake of creatine in U.S. population is 1.38 grams per day.
- Also, 42.8% of the studied population have an average intake below recommended levels of 1.0 gram of dietary creatine per day Which indicates the widespread of creatine malnutrition in the U.S. population.

Green tea and esophageal cancer
- A recent study performed a dose-response meta-analysis to quantitatively investigate the association between green tea consumption and risk of esophageal cancer.
- The Cochrane Library, Pubmed, and EMBASE databases were searched for relevant studies.
- The results suggested that there is no association between green tea and risk of EC .
- However there might be a protective effect of green tea against esophageal cancer in females rather than in males.

Whole grains and obesity in children
- A randomized cross over clinical trial study aimed to determine the effects of whole grain consumption on metabolic profiles of overweight or obese children.
- Subjects in the intervention group were asked to obtain 50% of their grain servings from whole grain foods.
- The results indicate that Whole grain consumption resulted in lower concentrations of plasma glucose level and serum triglycerides. Also, higher concentrations of Serum HDL-cholesterol levels seen in overweight children who consumed whole grains.

SCFAs and lipid metabolism
- Acetate, propionate and butyrate are the most common short chain fatty acids (SCFAs).
- A study was designed to investigate the effects of these three SCFAs on appetite regulation and lipid metabolism.
- The results showed that dietary supplementation of sodium acetate reduced serum triglyceride, free fatty acids, glucose and interleukin (IL) 6 levels Also, SCFAs could reduce appetite and fat accumulation via modulating relevant genes and hormones.

Vitamin D and early life obesity
- Recently, many epidemiological and animal studies have indicated that obesity have their origin in early-life stage including the inappropriate balance of some nutrients.
- A study aimed to determine the risk of obesity in male offspring mice as a consequence of maternal vitamin D deficiency.
- The results showed that Maternal VD deficiency might promote the development of obesity in the male offspring mice partly by modulating the immune cell populations and causing a polarization in the adipose depots.
