Nutritional status in old people
- An explorative and longitudinal study aim to analyze the longitudinal changes in different dimensions of the nutritional status in home health care old people. The study Examines nutritional status based on four domains health and somatic disorders; cognitive, affective, and sensory function; physical function and capacity; and food and nutrition. The results indicated that Most participants had poor nutritional status. Dehydration and reduced appetite were important indicators of a worsening nutritional and overall status and mortality.

Ketoanalogue supplementation and CKD
- A prospective observational study aimed to evaluate the Ketoanalogue( KA )effect on the skeletal muscle mass in patients with CKD stage 4–5. Patients were divided into KA and non-KA users. During a 12-month follow-up, skeletal muscle and body fat mass were measured via bioelectrical impedance analysis at baseline and 6 months. The results concluded that KA supplementation favorably prevents skeletal muscle mass loss and fat mass gain in elderly patients with CKD stage 4–5.

Different dietary patterns and sarcopenic obesity
- A study aim to investigate the correlation between dietary patterns and the risk of sarcopenic obesity (SO) in community-dwelling elderly. SO was defined as the coexistence of Sarcopenia and obesity. The dietary patterns were determined by principal component analysis (PCA). The results suggested that the elderly should have a balanced daily diet such as lacto-ovo vegetarian dietary pattern to prevent the occurrence and progression of SO.

Iron deficiency and muscle protein synthesis.
- A study aimed to investigate the effect of iron deficiency on basal and contraction induced increases in muscle protein synthesis. The rats in two groups had free access to a control diet or an iron-deficient diet for 4 weeks. The rats in the third group were pair-fed the control diet . The results indicate that Severe iron deficiency reduced basal protein synthesis in muscle. Also, it reduced resistance exercise-induced increases in muscle protein synthesis.

Malnutrition in cancer patients
- Malnutrition is a frequent comorbidity in cancer patients, associated with poor anticancer treatment tolerance, prognosis, and quality of life. The article presents the updated initiatives and the perspectives of the project” Integrating Nutritional Therapy in Oncology” with the aim to increase the awareness of nutritional issues among oncologists and, consequently, improve the nutritional care of cancer patients in Italy. It seems that More efforts are still needed to improve the quality of nutritional care in Italy.

Yacon consumption and obesity
- A randomized, parallel clinical trial evaluated the effect of Yacon flour consumption and energy-restricted diet on glycation markers concentrations, and the association between these markers and factors linked to obesity in adults with overweight. Subjects were randomly allocated into the control group or the Yacon flour group and daily consumed a breakfast drink, not containing or containing 25 g of Yacon flour. The results indicate that the 25g Yacon flour and energy-restricted diet did not increase the glycation markers.
