High fat diet and ACE2

  • A study aim to evaluate the impact of a high-fat diet (HFD) and maternal HFD on the intestinal ACE2 levels in adults and neonates. The study examined intestinal ACE2 protein levels in mice with diet-induced obesity and neonatal mice exposed to a maternal high-fat diet.
  • The results indicate that Intestinal ACE2 protein levels are increased in mice with high-fat diet-induced obesity. Also, Maternal high-fat diet feeding decreases intestinal ACE2 levels in the offspring compared with normal diet feeding.

Phase angle as a biomarker

  • A Cross- sectional study aim to assess the association of phase angle (PhA) with metabolic profile in adults of both sexes.
  • The PhA was measured based on electrical bioimpedance analysis (BIA).
  • The results indicate that Lower PhA is positively associated with waist circumference, glucose, non-HDL-C, triglycerides, PCR, HOMA-IR and uric acid. Also, Lower PhA is inversely associated with HDL-C. this outcome suggests that PhA is a promising cardiometabolic profile biomarker in adults.

Flavonoids and ESCC

  • A study aim to investigate the association between dietary consumption of the total, subclasses, and specific flavonoids and the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) among adults in a high-risk area of China.

  • Clinical, body composition, anthropometry, biochemical investigations, and full overnight polysomnography were measured.
  • The results show that Lower serum 25(OH) D levels were significantly observed in OSA and correlate with disease severity. Also, VDR and PTH mutations were found highly related to OSA in Asian Indians.
