Effects of caloric restriction and social isolation
- A study was designed to investigate the long-term effect of the caloric restricted diets and social isolation on rats behavior. Two-month old male rats of the Fischer 344 strain were fed a regimen of caloric restriction diet and each of the two animal sets were housed either in group or in isolation.
- Food consumption and animal growth curves were as expected during the first 6 weeks of observation.
- The results conclude that chronic moderate caloric restriction and social isolation synergize to induce anorexia-like behavior.

Indirect calorimetry in infants
- using indirect calorimetry has critical issues when applied to infants.
- The main issue is the time required to obtain reliable data due to the difficulty to keep infants quiet during the entire duration of the exam.
- A study aim to define the minimum duration of calorimetry in order to obtain reliable data.
- The results obtained conclude that Twenty consecutive minutes in steady state condition are sufficient to obtain reliable data on REE instable VLBWI.

Intermittent fasting and resistant training
- A study aim to analyze the effects of intermittent fasting (IF) on the performance of rats subjected to resistance training ladder climbs (RTLC).
- The results provide evidence that intermittent fasting reduces resistance training ladder climbs performance.
- Also, Intermittent fasting associated with RTLC increased stomach weight.
- In addition Resistance training ladder climbs increased food intake and muscle strength only in animals which were not subjected to intermittent fasting.

Iron metabolism and stress
- A study aim to observe changes in iron metabolism in rats under some stresses such as reduce food intake and exercising.
- The results indicate that Rats did not develop anemia with exercise and food intake restriction.
- To conclude high-intensity exercise under restricted food intake may significantly alter iron metabolism to maintain blood cell levels due to the strong promotion of metabolic iron utilization in response to dietary iron depletion, increased iron demand, and excretion.

Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis
- A study investigate the potential association between specific traits of body composition of patients scheduled for abdominal surgery for gastrointestinal cancer and risk of having MDR-related infections.
- Bioimpedance vector analysis (BIVA) was performed the day before the operation.
- The standardized phase angle (SPA) measured at BIVA was considered. Postoperative complications were collected focusing on resistance patterns and site of infection.
- The results indicate that low preoperative value of SPA is associated with the outbreak of multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.

Cranberry juice &fish oil supplementation in rheumatoid arthritis
- A prospective study aim to determine if cranberry juice consumption would ameliorate laboratory and clinical measurements of disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) receiving fish oil supplementation. 28-CRP modification of DAS28 (DAS28-CRP) and inflammatory markers were analyzed.
- The results indicate that The ingestion of cranberry juice adds beneficial effects to fish oil supplementation, decreasing disease activity and inflammatory biomarkers in RA patients.
