HGS and cancer mortality

  • A cohort study aims to compare the performance of the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 (AWGS)- and optimal stratification (OS)-defined HGS thresholds for predicting the survival of lung cancer (LC) patients.
  • The results indicate that the OS-defined HGS thresholds show better performance than the AWGS for predicting the survival of LC patients. Additionally, the HGS had N-shaped associations with the overall mortality among female LC patients.

Monoclonal antibodies and headache

  • A retrospective multisite cohort study aims to describe the safety and efficacy of calcitonin gene–related peptide monoclonal antibody treatment in adolescents with chronic headache disorders.
  • Demographics, baseline headache characteristics, efficacy, and side effect data were collected.
  • The results shows that Calcitonin gene–related peptide monoclonal antibody treatment appears to benefit a proportion of adolescents with chronic refractory headache disorders.

Headache and hemodialysis

  • A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter study aims to compare the incidence of headache and hypotension between patients drinking regular or decaffeinated coffee during dialysis.
  • Group A was given 80 mL of regular coffee and group B 80 mL of decaffeinated coffee (placebo) in the middle of 12 sessions.
  • The results indicate that Headache occurred in 35% of patients during their chronic hemodialysis sessions. Caffeine intake did not prevent headache occurrence in these patients.

Breakfast and Headache

  • A cross-sectional study was conducted to examine the association between breakfast consumption pattern and primary headaches in a large population of university students.
  • Primary headaches were determined according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders-3 (ICHD-3) criteria.
  • The results conclude that frequent breakfast consumption is associated with a decreased odds of primary headaches in female students and those with BMI < 25 kg/m2.

Symbiotic food supplements and Allergic rhinitis

  • A study aim to investigate the effects of the daily intake of a symbiotic food supplement (combination of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis with Fructo-Oligosaccharides) for 4 months in birch pollen allergic rhino conjunctivitis patients.
  • The results shows that a symbiotic food supplement in an AEC in rhino conjunctivitis patients with or without asthma revealed a significant beneficial effect, harnessing significant improvements of symptoms and well-being while maintaining an excellent safety and tolerability profile.

Himalayan black salt

  • There are two types of Himalayan rock salts.
  • One is the Himalayan pink salt and the other one is Himalayan black salt. A study aims to explore more scientific evidence in terms of its geochemical characterization and in vitro antioxidant activity.
  • The study revealed that Himalayan black salt exhibited antioxidant effect and interestingly showed low Na levels than common sea salt.
  • It also contains important minerals like iron, calcium and magnesium which are beneficial to human health .
