1 – COVID-19 vaccine-specific resources

• Health workers involved in deployment and implementation of COVID-19 vaccination require vaccine-specific knowledge to ensure safe and efficient vaccine delivery.
• This training provides key information about COVID-19 vaccines through short instructional videos, vaccine explainers, job aids, topic briefings, and downloadable presentations.
• It builds on the COVID-19 vaccination training for health workers and the Orientation to National Deployment and Vaccination Planning for COVID-19.

2- The PRISMA 2020 statement: an updated guideline for reporting systematic reviews

• The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement, published in 2009, was designed to help systematic reviewers transparently report why the review was done, what the authors did, and what they found.
• Over the past decade, advances in systematic review methodology and terminology have necessitated an update to the guideline.
• The PRISMA 2020 statement replaces the 2009 statement and includes new reporting guidance that reflects advances in methods to identify, select, appraise, and synthesise studies.

3- Many Covid patients have new ailments months after recovering from mild cases, a C.D.C. study finds.

• Most adults who test positive for the coronavirus don’t require hospitalization but tend to seek medical care in subsequent months, and two-thirds of those who do are told they have a health condition they did not have before.
• These are the findings of a study conducted by investigators from the CDC.
• The message for patients is that even for those who have had only mild Covid-19, “it’s possible you may experience new or persistent symptoms months after the initial diagnosis,”

4- Tenofovir-DF versus Hydroxychloroquine in the Treatment of Hospitalized Patients with COVID-19: An Observational Study (TEDHICOV)

• Although several therapeutic agents have been suggested for the treatment of the disease caused by the Coronavirus of the year 2019 (COVID-19), no antiviral has yet demonstrated consistent efficacy.
• The results of an observational study comparing Tenofovir-DF (TDF) with Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 with evidence of pulmonary compromise and the vast majority with supplemental oxygen requirement are presented.
• TDF may be an effective antiviral in the treatment of COVID-19.
• Some of its advantages include: its wide availability, cost and oral presentation.
• Randomized clinical trials are imperatively required to confirm this possibility.

5- US CDC recommends pregnant women to take Covid-19 vaccine

• The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended pregnant women who are confused regarding coronavirus vaccination to get the shots.
• According to The Washington Post (WaPo), at a White House briefing on the coronavirus Friday, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said that vaccination surveillance systems showed “no safety concerns” for more than 35,000 women in their third trimester or for their babies.

6- Transmission characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern Rapid Scoping Review

• As of March 2021, three SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOC) have been identified (B.1.1.7, B.1.351 and P.1) and been detected in over 111 countries.
• Despite their widespread circulation, little is known about their transmission characteristics.
• There is a need to understand current evidence on VOCs before practice and policy decisions can be made.
• This study aimed to map the evidence related to the transmission characteristics of three VOCs.
